I have no association with Fxpansion but I was excited to share this its been a long time wanting a tool like this. You can't simply play it in and allow Geist 2 to sample it onto a pad the way Omnisphere allows.

I mentioned I'm not a good player with Omnisphere I can use their "Live" mode to sample in things that are quantized for me, more fun, or I can use Ableton Live Intro's quantize record setting, with the drawback that you have to then play back the quantized clip. But I have dozens of other nice synths to sample bits and hits from, but the chore of not being a very good player and turning on and off clips in Ableton, although more handy than a traditional DAW, makes one fight to come up with ideas that may be spread over many scenes and clips. Since I have a lot of their acoustic and percussion kits and hits I sample them into Geist, and now Geist 2, and they sound very accurate, identical to the original 24 bit sample, in Geist 2. (Fxpansion has a more realistic virtual drum plugin called BFD3, which I also own. And experiment, much in the way one would in Ableton, but for me the process is so much quicker and more fun and exciting in Geist since there is instant gratification since the layout is more fluid and visible 64 pads (= 1 "kit") and 24 patterns (1024 steps long) per engine, just categorize stuff into the 8 engines, save and load patterns and kits, and build up a library of coolness. Anyway, another feature that is outstanding is the ease with which one can lay out sequences using a mouse or real time recording. And the sound will be identical.īut basically what makes Geist 2 so unique. If one has a sequencer then with Geist 2 one use a threshold trigger mode to begin sampling the next thing played on that sequencer, as an example. Geist offers a fine resolution of groove positioning (unlike Nerve) in addition to the basic swing control that is effective for every event you create.īut basically what makes Geist 2 so unique is that the samples sound fantastic and the playback options all work - you can sample something you want to explore rhythmically (by repeating it in rhythm - duh). Patterns can be 1024 steps, and steps can be assigned to a variety of host beat divisions. Geist 2 has 64 pads per engine, 8 engines with the ability to do tempo multiples and vary swing settings amongst engines, it lets one input using a grid, then convert to a different grid on the same pattern. I just had the most productive 4 hour composing experience to date. I just upgraded my Geist, originally based on their produce Guru.
#Fxpansion geist 2 upgrade Patch
Electra x has a patch called "I bet your virus cant do this" and it sound fkin astonishing !!!.Well worth the 1oo quid i think it was.For those into songwriting, since I don't play drums or have a studio or living space into which I can bring drummers, getting my ideas down has been a tough process. The presets (Some of them are awesome) i have done any of my own patches as i'm still real new to synthesis and find massive the most simple. People have rightfully called these 2 "unapologetically digital sounding" and it's true, but that good Virus type digital. I've been looking to Tone2's Gladiator 2 and ElectraX lately for those type of sounds as I find much easier to program.

I'd be buying for the real sounds and effects as much as the synths though.Ĭosmic I agree Massive is excellent but it's mod matrices etc. Geist2 is a streamlined environment for beat creation and sound sculpting that provides instant inspiration and new ideas for your productions.

I've used Kontakt since version 1, raped Guitar Rig for fun on the regular, and dabbled with Reaktor and other NI stuff for a long time. People have rightfully called these 2 "unapologetically digital sounding" and it's true, but that good Virus type digital.ĭ16's Phosycon is another quality VST/AU TB303 emulation worth checking out.īack to FXpansion their DCAM Synth is excellent although I've only demoed that one. I've been looking to Tone2's Gladiator 2 and ElectraX lately for those type of sounds as I find them much easier to program. Of course you'd have to want Maschine and clearly many people on this forum don't But that's totally understandable seeing how long some of you guy's have been hardware based.Ĭosmic I agree Massive is excellent but it's mod matrices etc. If you already have it or register a dead stock one you buy now NI will sell you Maschine for $449USD. It's a real shame they pulled the plug on KORE. I can see this speeding everything up massively.Īgree 100% on the value of the Komplete 7 box. I'm late to the party with Kore, but you can browse everything that's on Komplete through it. I'd be buying for the real sounds and effects as much as the synths though.
